| English Church, Nadakkavu When you move north from Head Post Office area of Mananchira square, you come across West Hill post office, Kanakalaya Bank, Telephone exchange, Sooryodayam hospital, Sharada hospital, ESI hospital, Fiat showroom, MTI complex and West Hill helipad. Hotel Shri Krishna is the next landmark followed by Devan tea, Shri Kashi Math, Juma Masjidh and Garudan Kulam. You have reached West Hill Chungam junction and by turning right you have the Govt Guest House and Govt Rest House and Kendriya Vidyalaya. Turning left can take you to the beach on the Bhatt Road. The junction also offers a Thalassery ethnic Biriyani restaurant and a US Pizza restaurant. Going straight takes you to Kannur city, some 100 km away. West Hill is very near Mananchira pond in Calicut. The road north of the head post office takes you to Vandipettah, Chakkorathukulam, Rotary youth Centgre, Kanakalaya Bank and West Hill Chungam. |
The post office junction at West Hill is the landmark for turning right to St.Jospeh’s school and St.Michael’s school. Two other road to the right side takes you to Chakkarothkulam and Bilathikkulam areas. When you proceed further north from West Hill, you pass the government polytechnic college on the right, the helipad on the left and the next big junction is called ‘West Hill Chungam’ where you have two restaurants—one is the US Pizza and the other is the ethnic Thalassery restaurant. When you turn left from the junction, you enter the Bhatt road leading to the beach. This junction also has an IAS Academy, an IIKM college and a Christian college office. The government has opened a passport service station in the junction making it a popular hangout of expatriates.
