Pavangad and Elathur

West Hill Chungam junction is a prominent road intersection on the northern side of Calicut city.  There is a US Pizza showroom here and also a very ethnic Cannanore meat restaurant.  When you move north of this junction, you come by townships like Athanikkal, Puthiyangadi, Pavgangad and Puthoor.  Chalil Juma Masjidh is a famous landmark of Puthiyangadi.  Vengaly, Puthiyanirathu and Ananthapuram are the next town.  There is a Bhagavathy Temple here and the Sethu Sitharam L.P.School has a little photogenic campus.  The Salath Nagar and the Salafi Masjidh give a distinct Muslim flavour to the next junction.  Elathur town is visible now with Tasty Bakery, police station, post office and the Elathur Public Library.  The railway station at Elathur is surrounded by scenic villages and the western side of the railway station is a silent beach.  There is one Rifayi Masjidh and a Shri Kolavan Temple here.  Elathur bus station is small and cute but you can get air conditioned Volvo buses back to the city.
